ActressCailee Spaeny, who plays the titular Presley in the film oppositeJacob Elordi’s Elvis, recently spoke to PEOPLEabout what it was liketo transform into Priscilla on set.

“They worked incredibly hard,” Spaeny, 25, said of the movie’s hair, makeup and wardrobe teams, who brought Priscilla’s classic looks to life.

Spaeny also explained that, while some of the wigs she wore were “heavy,” it was “actually really fun” to be aware of her physical space in that way.

“It was a missing piece to the puzzle and was really so informative of how I was going to move at different ages and stages of her life,” she said of Priscilla. “The beehive on your head, and having heels on and little dresses, you sort of move like a doll.”

Spaeny, who also spent time with Priscilla before filming, worked on mimicking her mannerisms for the film. “She’s a woman from a different era,” Spaeny noted.

“She has, which you pick up on when you’re with her, she has this softness about her. She’s very delicate on the surface, but she has such fierceness in her as well.”
