Julia Garner(Wolf Man)recently sat down withEntertainment Weeklyto give some perceptiveness on her take on the mysterious Silver Surfer inFantastic Four : The First Steps .
Like many fans with only casual noesis of the funnies andpast films from Marvel and Fox , she assumed the Silver Surfer was a male character — but then admitted , “ I was just like , ‘ Okay , well , I ’ll play anything . ' ”
It help that she was already a “ big fan ” ofFantastic Fourdirector Matt Shakman . “ There was already , in my mind , like , ‘ I should probably fulfil with Matt Shakman because he ’s a very smart director and I have it away his work . ’ And then he was explaining to me that [ the photographic film ’s Silver Surfer is ] actually Shalla - Bal and that whole thing . ”

Garner learned more about this version of the Silver Surfer after read the script for the cinema , though she could n’t let out too much . “ It ’s croak to be really interesting … it was described as , there ’s this mystery about her , and there ’s this sense of this equivocal energy going on of whether she ’s safe or not . She is the herald of Galactus , so she work for Galactus , but you ’re not certain where she stand up . Does she stand with her boss , or is she just doing what she ’s told ? She has this cryptical energy about her , and lento that mystery will get solved with the audience throughout watching it . ”
Diving intothe comic - book chronicle of Shalla - Balwas of import for Garner — though in Marvel Studios latest , things get switched up a bit for the character . “ What makes this version different is that the movie is just unlike . First of all , I ’m a womanhood , so that ’s already different , and that has n’t been say before . This Silver Surfer sense more cryptical in a way , even how it was write , than the other 1 . Also , just the world feels so different with the 1960s retro futurism going on . The audience is survive to get a wholly different experience with this picture show , so they ’ll have a clean palette . ”
She go on , by choice vaguely : “ All I can say is that she forge for Galactus and that she ’s cryptic , and the quality will unfold more towards the end of the picture show . That ’s all I can say . I have a go at it it ’s a very Marvel tease , but also it ’s like a real vamp . I have n’t seen the movie myself ! ”
