The approval of the DualDisc audio standard by the DVD Forum could open up up some potentially interesting alternative for not only DVD - Audio but plain ol’ DVD - Video , as well . The DualDisc format basically glues a standard audio CD onto the back of a DVD , allowing the DVD to be played in both DVD - Audio and regular CD players . But there ’s nothing that says the DVD side has to be audio — the single - stratum DVD could rather have a video , like say live concert footage , while the CD side has the live record album . The alternative abound , I say .
