It ’s lookingextremelyunlikelythat we ’ll ever be capable to quicken dinosaur using their fossilized DNA , but if a British biochemist is right-hand , we may be capable to revive these ancient fauna by rewinding the DNA of bird .

In a late Telegrapharticle , Oxford University ’s Dr. Alison Woollard explain that , by identifying and altering certain genes found in the DNA of innovative birds , scientists may be able-bodied to reconstruct the genomes of dinosaurs :
“ We know that birds are the verbatim descendants of dinosaur , as proven by an unbroken argumentation of fossils which track the phylogenesis of the lineage from fauna such as the velociraptor or T - Rex through to the shuttlecock fly around today , ” say Dr Woollard .
“ The most famous of these is the Archaeopteryx , a fossil which understandably shows the transition between feathered dinosaur and advanced birds .

“ This evolution involve that buried deep within the desoxyribonucleic acid of today ’s birds are switched - off genes that control dinosaur - corresponding traits .
“ Could we ‘ rewind ’ evolution by switch these factor back on and using them to guide the development of that bird ’s materialisation , and its offspring ’s materialisation , backwards ? ”
All animate being and plants are associate , sharing a common ancestor that lived about 1.6 billion old age ago .

“ In theory we could apply our knowledge of the genetic human relationship of dame to dinosaurs to ‘ design ’ the genome of a dinosaur , ” read Dr Woollard .
The challenge , says Woollard , is understanding the full length of a dinosaur ’s genome to know which “ edits ” to make to a bird ’s genome ; surviving dinosaur snip would be ascertain in very curt fragments . So , to make a full genome , scientist would likely have to combine together 1000000 of little fragments of nucleic superman in exactly the right order .
