Until Daisy Ridley picks up her yellow lightsaber once again , any meter she release a movie , she ’s going to be asked about Rey . She can play a swimmer , she can act as a window dry cleaner , it does n’t count . citizenry want to knowwhat ’s get on withStar Wars .
Ridley is currently promoting a movie calledCleaner(where she literally plays a window cleaner who just so chance to be ex - military ) and so she ’s once again having to provide an update on the Rey motion picture . First announce back in 2023 , the Lucasfilm project is set afterStar Wars : The Rise of Skywalkerand bring back Ridley as Rey , who ’ll work to create a new Jedi order . Sharmeen Obaid - Chinoy is directing and while several writers , and we do mean several , have tackled the project , the a la mode one to hail on board isGeorge Nolfi(The Bourne Ultimatum , The Adjustment Bureau , Ocean ’s 12 , Elevation ) .
Speaking toComicBook , Ridley had nothing but extolment for Nofli , though she has n’t scan his workplace yet . “ I have not record the latest hand , but I know what ’s happening , and I know the story , and I call back what feels really good is that George is a phenomenal writer , ” she state . “ I remember we ’re hit certain that this story is the in force way , this script is the honorable way to tell the story , and I think it will be worthwhile for everyone watch it , and I am very excited , yeah . ”

That sounds secure ! The story is good , the writer is serious , they ’re taking their meter , and that ’s the good deal . She added another wrinkle blab out toScreenrant , revealing she ’s got another motion-picture show coming up so the Rey movie is n’t the next matter she ’s working on . “ I do n’t think it ’ll be the next thing I go to output on because I ’m suppose to be doing — oh no , it ’s not , because I ’m doing something next calendar month , very excitingly , ” Ridley say . “ So it ’s not the next thing production - wise to , but the script is being written and I ’m very excited . ”

This is a little less on message but , can you pick her ? She ’s doing a wondrous job talking about something she contractually should n’t be talking about .
“ I do n’t bang that I ’d be a manufacturer on it , but I certainly have been very knotty , ” Ridley said . “ I ’m involved in , well , not very convoluted , but I ’m involve in as much as I bonk what ’s go on , I know the fib , I cognize what ’s going on with the script , so I ’m aware of all that . And I recollect what ’s been really wonderful over the last few years is being more involved from the get-go to finish , really coming to set knowing this is the absolute estimable way we can tell this story . These are the best actors for the job . This is the best crew for the job . take that trust is so lovely . And it ’s not that I did n’t have that before , but I ’m much more cognizant of it now . So in that way , I ’m looking forwards to turning up , really knowing the ins and out of what the journeying has been , and we ’re arriving at the downright expert place to tell this particular story . ”
And , really , all jokes aside , that ’s all we want . The best potential movie . And if the picture is n’t function to be heavy , then do n’t make it . Do n’t further tarnish anyStar Warslegacies . It certainly sounds like Ridley is mindful of all that and trying her gruelling to be — yes — excited about the possibilities .
The nextStar Warsmovie to hit field will beThe Mandalorian and Groguin summer 2026 . We do n’t know what ’s next after that , though it could be this moving-picture show , it could be Shawn Levy ’s flick , or something else . indecipherable , the future is .
