These do n’t give away too much of the secret plan , but they are a good coup d’oeil at the tone of voice and style of the film . The sets are so spare as to be surreal , and the atmosphere is a blending of Orwell and Kafka . This gild clear is n’t a pleasant place to be , but the picture seems to have a sense of dark , brutal humour about the whole business .
