Why do terrible thing materialize to character reference we have intercourse ? To witness out , we tattle to the actor who plays our favorite ( and now horribly mangled ) scientist . Massive spoilers ahead …
If you did n’t know — last week we recede a terrific fictitious character , Dr. Doreen Boyle , to the dickish Major Sergio Balleseros in a vile attack that left her as food for thought for rats . It was frightful and exasperate — especially since she ’s the only one on the show with literal smartness . Thankfully we were capable to share our sadness and thwarting with the actress herself ( who does NOT have the same accent as Doreen ) , Catherine Lemieux . Here ’s our one - on - one final farewell .
How do you feel right now ?
Catherine Lemieux : I ’m in reality really sorry . I ’m distressing for myself , but I ’m also deplorable for Doreen , because in the story she was really capture somewhere . She was one of the people who was really getting resolution and getting somewhere with all the mental test that she ’s doing . And then she ’s taken away … She ’s taken off ! So when I read the book , and got to the end I conceive , “ Oooh , she know too much . ” I just kind of think that ’s what happened to Doreen . She just knew too much .
But she ’s my pet persona !
I ’m sorry , she ’s my favorite one too . I had the practiced metre . I had some of the best line on the show . And she was a bit of a comic . I ca n’t believe how much of my own personality I was able to kind of put in there . Everybody is so great and supportive . It ’s been a grand experience . Awesome . I do n’t get laid if all TV experiences are like this , but I ’ve been so include as part of the mould and my character . It ’s been a slap-up ride , albeit a short one .
rent ’s talk about the literal human action because OH MY GOD , are those rats eating your FACE ?
I ’m told that this is what happens . I ’m told that what really gets me is the air bubble to the nous . And then I ’m finished off by the crumb .
That ’s a awful means to die .
I concluded that I was paralyzed but that I had some kind of life to me when he plunge the rats on top of my body .
I call back he liked you ! It ’s one matter to kill you with a capture inducing air house of cards but then he goes and dumps RATS on you . I finger like that ’s a recoil while you ’re already down . Screw him .
I thought we were getting somewhere too . And they unquestionably have a dynamic that made Doreen reserve back information from Alan . And that ’s where I was drop dead with the character , that was my justification that maybe there was some closeness happen . She kind of let Major Balleseros in , in that sense . Again , not telling Alan about what was going down is a vast business deal . It ’s a big deal . So I put put it together that as motivation that it was because , A , her Dad is in the military . I think she warm up to Balleseros on that level , and kind of trusted him in that good sense . And then yeah they were spending some time together . There were friendship building activities happening .
It took me by surprise , because of the scene that she had with Alan where it became very seeming that she is the one that he confided in . So I was surprised to see her go after that reveal .
I ’ve been order that before the taradiddle in Helix begins , Alan used Doreen as a shoulder to slant on when everything hap with Peter and Julia . So , as far as I ’m concern , Doreen screw a lot about that situation . And what happened between all of them .
Which makes me promising . I know that everyday in Helix is a Clarence Day and this serial travel ahead , not backwards , but is there the potential for Doreen to render in a flashback ?
I would have a go at it for that to happen , evidently . People in the process have tell “ we ’re dingy we killed Dorey and we ’re sorry that this come about , and that because this is a scifi serial certainly anything can take place . ” But I am absolutely not privy to any of that likely happening . I call up the best pillowcase scenario for her would be setting up a prequel . Because certainly there is a human story before the infection .
But she ’s by all odds stagnant ? She ’s not cash in one’s chips to come back with like half of her face chewed off and really irritated , veracious ?
You know what ? I pitched [ that ] to Cameron ( Okay , it was n’t a pitch — I was asking if this could fall out ) but because the rats are infected with the strain of the computer virus that turns people into superheroes . Is she actually bushed ? Technically , she ’s been eaten by the skunk . She ’s infected . And could n’t that move her into still survive ? What if the last prospect of the show is Doreen ’s hand is erupt through the coke . And that ’s the cliffhanger for season 2 ?
Did you get it on they were going to stamp out you when you were cast in this serial ?
The way that , that happen was I was told that I had four episode , that was the contract bridge . I would have to say that I was beg that I was giving them the good Doreen , [ so I could ] possibly keep her on . I kind of technically raw in installment four something was going to materialize , but as I learn through it I really did n’t know until the last moment . Until it was really publish down , “ Balleseros shoves needle into her . ” That was midway through episode 3 too , I kind of know as I was film it .
Well it feels like everyone is go to die on this show anyhow . The respite of you CDC crew are all sickish or have neoplasm .
Exactly ! And I intend that , as a dramatis personae , everybody knew that their head could be on the chopping block at anytime … But I have no idea where the show is give way as of sequence five . So I will absolutely be watch , pore , along with everyone else .
OK so if you ’re really dead , and you know where you are in episode five , I ’m assuming your body is in episode five . Did you have to film that yourself ?
Yes . They deal with that in episode five .
waitress , do you have to make for dead while they draw your physical structure places ?
I had to be a dead consistence when they dissect the torso .
What was that like ?
That was really a batch of makeup . That was really two hr of makeup , and there ’s a huge scar that I ’ll have on my bureau . Yep , I was topless except for a sail that was over me . It was actually , to be reliable , really kind of abominable to just dwell there and pretend to be dead . You ca n’t be breathing and you definitely have to be still . For me in person , that was perhaps my toughest day . I decease though a lot of composition from all of the scarring from the the rat fire as well .
Are they go to show your aspect ?
Yeah … I hope so . These FX makeup the great unwashed are awing . They are so awe-inspiring . Just incredible .
I ’m so puddle the Peter is credibly going to last and you die . I know he ’s “ utter , ” but you fuck .
I ’m piss for Doreen . She ’s a bit of myself . I reacted as Doreen when I take it , “ Oh no , he did not just do that — God Dammit ! ” I also have some thin ruefulness about having not pleaded to have a bit more of a fight conniption with Balleseros . He really just grabs me , it ’s so surprising and it happens so fast . I care , as Doreen , that she would have kicked his ass a little more .
Then those betrayer go direct for your face .
Those betrayer are amazing . Those hairless rats are very perfumed . masses remember that rat are so malign , but they are actually quite smart . They had this crazy technique where they put the loge of so-and-so on my back , and they had food in the box so the rat would scarper into the box across my back . They had all variety of smart trick to get the rats do what they wanted .
[ Last Question ] How many times do you think you said the word rapscallion ?
