No matter whereAnthony Ramosis — and he says he’s mainly between Miami and L.A. these days — he’s never alone.
“He’s dope; he travels the world with me,” Ramos tells PEOPLE while discussing Dog Chow’s Visible Impact Awards, which honor service dogs working with veterans suffering from PTSD. “He comes to work with me all the time. He’d be in the studio. He’d be wherever I go.”
Prince, a Klee Kai Eskimo, “does a lot for me,” Ramos adds. “That’s my man.”
On top of having his own loveable pup, the Broadway star comes from a long line of dog owners — and veterans. It’s part of what made him want to get involved in Dog Chow’s annual event.
“They’re doing some amazing stuff,” Ramos says of the brand’s work supporting service dogs nationwide. “They’re really helping veterans in a big way.”
“These service dogs, they do incredible things,” he continues. “Placing body weight on somebody to help calm them down while they’re having a panic attack, retrieving medication for people in their homes and things like that.”

Joining the cause was a no-brainer for the “Villano” singer, whose father is a veteran, along with his grandfather and several of his uncles.
Ramos shares that his grandfather “served in the Korean War, in the 65th infantry,” adding that all of his veteran relatives either “had or have” a dog.
“It’s really dope to see what these dogs can actually do.”

Of Dog Chow — which is donating up to $75,000 to the Association of Service Dog Providers for Military Veterans in line with the awards — Ramos adds, “They care. And I think that’s what moved me.”
In a press release, he said it’s a “privilege beyond words” to be part of this year’s Service Dog Salute program.
“The unwavering loyalty and support that service dogs provide to our military veterans is nothing short of remarkable. I am honored to help shine a light on the powerful impact service dogs have on the lives of those who served our country.”

Despite being a Klee Kai Eskimo – a mix between an Alaskan Klee Kai and an American Eskimo — Ramos’s dog Prince is a big fan of the sunshine.
“He’s a winter dog that likes to sunbathe,” theHamiltonstar admits.
