“ I lead off working on this series of paintings while the world was in lockdown , ” Listfield indite in a pressing release . “ Most of the major planet was stuck at abode ride out a pandemic unlike anything we ’ve experience in 100 years . metropolis streets were empty , buildings boarded up , coyotes and tumbleweeds inhabit business district . I began to hear from people that the material world was take care more and more like one of my paintings . uncalled-for to say , this gave me pause . It ’s always unspoilt as an creative person to feel like you ’re in the zeitgeist . It ’s another thing entirely to get the nervous feeling that you ’ve presage a reasonably bleak present tense . I was struggling with what to do with this knowledge . ”
“ My work is very much about geographic expedition , ” he extend . “ All I ’ve had to research recently is the sinister depths of my own mind . And so in these new paintings , the astronaut that vagabond my work wanders through deserted metropolis literally tip and falling . Where solemnity has its own free will . Bits and pieces of a recognizable pop polish landscape painting fall through these scenes sidewise , tumble along with statues . ”
