The Great Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011 damaged over a million construction in northeast Japan . A century - honest-to-god depot that barely subsist has been redesigned into this gorgeous home — theRebirth House , a symbolic representation of both great architecture , and resilience .
Ryo Matsui Architects , the house behind the projection , finished reconstructive memory on the Ibaraki prefecture - based dwelling last September . The house used materials from the original 120 - year - old depot that was damage by the tsunami .
The storage ’s traditionalkirizuma - tiled roof was left inviolate , but there are brand newfangled walls with a perforated discourse , which resemble bloodless lace . The discussion pass on visitant a glimpse of the double facade ’s hide windows at Nox , when indoor ignitor illuminates them . The cellar carry a satiny wine cellar , and the kitchen opens up into a traditional Nipponese garden .

While the structure from the original entrepot were deemed beyond damage to expend , the incorporated materials integrate with the new ones result in a really cool quad that straddle both traditional and modern-day Japanese design sense .
Even though it ’s gorgeous on its own , the Rebirth House is also a symbolisation of beauty and bounce back in the face of desolation .
