During my lunch break yesterday , I decided to do a little multitasking and give the kind folks at PayPal a call regarding an on-going egress I was having with my news report . I figure , doltishly , that a caller as big as PayPal would have more than three masses working the whole of their client service wing . As the call unplug two hours and 15 arcminute of postponement time later — in all likelihood because even the automated scheme got bored spill to me — I realized how very incorrect I was . Here ’s a quick retread .
Turns out I could have spent my time much more sagely than listening to a disinterested robot explain the basics of PayPal ’s claims system . Here aremore than 500 movies , some veritable classic cinema , any of which I could have look out instead of listening to PayPal ’s hold medicine .
Update : PayPal client service has reached out and pulled a miraculous recovery , help me answer an account number I ’d been dealing with for over a month , speedily and efficiently . The company expire out of its way to make things right and that ’s something you do n’t often see any more . And as for the original cause of the issue , Anuj Nayar of PayPal CS wrote ,
Yesterday was one of those random twenty-four hour period when we had “ outstandingly eminent call intensity ” ( now I vocalize like one of those IVRs … ) . seriously though , we on occasion see spike that the 7,000 customer support agents at PayPal can palm well but unfortunately the high loudness was coupled with a technical issue that took one of our CS financial support centers off billet for about three hours yesterday . This is no excuse , I make love but I did need to rent you know why it happened and apologise once again . We have intragroup goals to turn to our customers ’ issues in one call and within a few minutes . Yesterday was clearly one of those twenty-four hours when we did not achieve any of that .
